How to Commission a Pet Portrait:
Using the tips below for selecting good reference photos, email me your reference photos and a little about your pet.
Upon receipt of your reference photos and discussing size and background options, you will be billed for 50% of the entire price, with the remaining due at completion. When I am nearing that stage, I will email you photos of the portrait and the remaining balance will be due only after you are satisfied.
The usual turnaround for pet portraits is 3-4 weeks, but it could be longer or shorter depending on the number of commissions I have at once. Holiday commission spots fill up quickly, so I encourage you to reach out earlier than later!

What makes a good reference photo?
The amount of detail and character captured in the portrait depends on the quality of the photo references submitted. Since my pet portrait style is highly detailed realism, photos with good lighting and sharpness are important. I require at least 2 head-on photos and at least two side profile photos. Photos in direct sunlight are preferred, but multiple photos with a variety of lighting sources are acceptable. Coat colors and distinct markings can look differently colored in different lighting, so the more reference photos you submit, the better! Please reach out if you have any questions about your reference photos and I will gladly help you.
